ALL CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN JUNE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CONTESTS

Q: Do the entries need to be to the NWA office by the deadline?

A: No. Entries must be postmarked by the deadline, but can arrive at NWA after the deadline.

Q: Where can I get a copy of Research Report #35?

A: Please e-mail us at natlwritersassn@hotmail.com, and we will send you a PDF. It is also available for download on our website by clicking on the Videos link.

Q: Can I send an electronic submission instead of a hardcopy?

A: No. We accept only hard copy manuscripts. The judges write notes in the margins as a reference, as well as for the author's review.

Q: Can I enter even if I live outside the United States?

A: Yes. As long as the submission fees are paid in US Dollars, you may still enter.

Q: When I send in the entry fee, should I send cash?

A: We strongly advise against sending cash in the mail. Entry fees can be paid by check, money order, or credit card.

Q: When will I know if my manuscript placed? When will the winners be announced?

A:  Due to the amount of submissions, judging usually takes about four months. If, for example, you are entering the Novel contest, expect an answer in July. Winners will be notified in June.

Q: Why does it take so long?

A: On any given contest there is a panel of at least three judges. Each judge reads the entire manuscript, and then makes a decision. Entries with critiques can take longer.
